SCREEDS IN KENYA

A screed is defined as a layer of well compacted material, commonly a mixture of cement and fine aggregate, that is applied to a base at the appropriate thickness and that has a surface suitable for receiving a floor finish.

Types of Screeds
Monolithic screeds
Bonded screeds
Unbonded screeds

Screeds are used as a means of providing smooth flat floors for residential, commercial and industrial areas.
Screeds are suitable for wearing surfaces of floors of utility rooms in domestic areas like a garage.
Screeds are also important suitable for floors covered with carpets and tiles.

The materials for screeds are sand, which has a large influence on the quality of the resulting screed.Other materials are cement and admixtures.
