STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY EPOXY FLOOR PAINT

There are guidelines before applying epoxy paint.Some of the steps of applying epoxy is as follows;-
Step one;
Preparation of the surface like sanding the floor to ensure the adhesive glues the substrates with the epoxy paint.This might also include surface cleaning to ensure there is no contamination.
Step two;
Sweeping and cleaning of the floor to get rid of all dust particles and residues, this is because the dust might weaken adhesion.The lesser the dust on the surface the lesser amount of primer used.
Step three;
Priming the floor, this gives the floor a longevity and better adhesion to the substrate.It seals the substrate and eliminating the risks of bubbles and gas.
Step four;
Fill the cracks and holes with epoxy grout, this improves the anchoring of the grout.
Step five;
Apply the first coat of epoxy paint, this step is the most crucial one.
Step six;
Applying the product on a roller
Step seven;
Apply the final coat.

POLYESTER RESINS

Polyester is often reffered to as fiberglass. Polyester resins are unsaturated synthetic resins formed by the reaction of dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols.
Unsaturated polyesters are condensation polymers formed by the reaction of polyols.
Polyester resins are thermosetting.
Polyesters offer ease of handling, low cost, dimensional stability, as well as good mechanical, chemical-resistance and electrical properties.
Polyester resins are the least expensive of the resin options, providing the most economical way to incorporate resin, filler and reinforcement.
They are the primary resin matrix used in SMC (sheet molding compounds) and BMC (bulk molding compounds).
The low viscosity and raw material cost of polyesters make the additions of filler and reinforcements a matter of practicality.
The components are polyester resins are pigments,resins,additives and reflective beads.

Advantages
Long lasting.
Durable
Relatively affordable
Works well with concrete
Does not discolor harshly

Disadvantages
Oxidizizes
Mixing is hard
The solvent is flammable
It is hazardous waste
Takes time to set up.

That is just a brief discussion about polyester resins.

INSTALLATION METHODS FOR HARDWOOD FLOORING

The big decision has already been made and now the tricky part comes in choosing the method of installation.
There are four different methods of installing hardwood flooring, namely;

  • Nail down

Nailing down wood floors is the most common installation method.
Nails are used to fasten the wood to the subfloor. This method is often used with thin wood flooring.The process involves nailing the wood directly to the subfloor.
To ensure proper installation, please ensure you know the guidelines of nailing

  • Glue down

This is installing with the aid of adhesives.The use of adhesives makes the wood adhere to the subfloor.
Engineered wood floors and parquets can be glued down. The wood is adhered to the subfloor with a strong adhesives.
The type of adhesives is very crucial as the perfomance may vary from one type of wood to another type.

  • Staple down

Staples are used instead of nails to attach the floor to the subfloor. This method is simpler than the nail down method.Staples are used to attach the wood with the subfloor.
It is almost similar to nail down the difference is that this uses staples and its simpler than nailing down.

  • Floating

This is the fastest and easiest method of installation. Floating floors are not attached to any subfloor, they simply float above it. Either adhesive is applied to the boards to keep them together, or the boards are made to simply snap together. Usually a pad is placed between the wood floor and the subfloor to protect against moisture and reduce noise. Floating floors can be installed over almost any surface.
